MAGALLANES CAPS SUMMER ACTIVITIES
By Dinjo Constantino
BARANGAY Magallanes recently held its culminating activity for its summer programs for 2007.
Held last May 26 at 4:30 p.m. at the barangay hall grounds, the activity capped off the six-week summer program that included crafts and cooking, drawing, painting and digital photography and theatre arts.
According to barangay captain Maria Luisa Gordon, the programs were again a success as she thanked the participants and all the volunteers who helped them make the program something to look forward to every summer.
Another stalwart in the summer program, kagawad on education Loury Lacson, revealed that the crafts class under Vicky Alunan decorated the venue to make it more festive and also to showcase what they learned in the seminar.
The event also featured three booths (dips & spreads, pasta and juice) which were prepared by the cooking class under Bettina A. del Rosario, Vicky Alunan, Judy Sarino, and kagawad Christine Rivera.
“The kids prepared and sold their food for hungry and thirsty locals at a minimal price,” said Gordon in an interview with Village Voice last week.
There was also a visual arts exhibit that displayed the works of the photography class under Jojo Gloria and Josef Poe with the drawing and painting under Linda Marty joining them.
The students of the theatre arts class under Noemi Gomez and Rem Zamora also had a musical review in the evening.
